Northwest Airlines Complaint - Northwest: Bad to Animals, Bad to Customers
I bought a plane ticket at Northwest Airlines. I canceled the ticket right after I bought them, because I wasn’t flying home that weekend after all.
Just recently, I learned that Northwest promotes rodeos on their site, something I don’t want to contribute to. Rodeos are inherent animal cruelty, pure and simple. Rodeos take docile animals and try to make them seem aggressive. Bulls and horses are tormented in the chutes prior to release into the ring. They are forced to wear bucking straps, and the rider uses spurs, which dig into the animals' flesh. One rodeo cowboy said of bucking straps and electric prods, "If you can't use those devices, then you have no rodeo" (Pittsburgh Tribune Review Dec.
Injuries to animals, such as deep internal organ bruising, hemorrhaging, bone fractures, ripped tendons, and torn ligaments and muscles, are all expected and anticipated in the violent tradition. For more information on rodeos, request a rodeo brochure from The Humane Society at 202-452-1100. You can watch The Humane Society’s rodeo investigation at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D-Vg0w-l_Oo.
I contacted Northwest about this asking for a refund. They denied my request. They must really love promoting animal torture for profits. What’s next for Northwest? They going to start promoting dogfighting on their site too?
Due to Northwest’s treatment of animals and myself, I can no longer be a Northwest customer.
