Powersports Unlimited Complaint - Worthless Junk ATV & Go Cart - POWER SPORTS UNLIMITED

Review by freightliner on 2007-12-18
DOTHAN, ALABAMA -- I just want to warn anyone looking to buy an ATV or Go Cart DO NOT buy one from POWER SPORTS UNLIMITED on the Ross Clark Circle, in Dothan, Alabama. My husband and I shopped all around the area and wound up buying two ATVs and a Go Cart from these people thinking we were getting a good deal because they were cheaper than the other places we had looked. That was a huge mistake because it isn't even Christmas yet and they are already torn up just from test riding them to make sure they were going to work right when "Santa" showed up with them Christmas day.

The 110 ATV first had a bad battery and wouldn't crank at the dealer without a jump start. Being the last one they had that color we took it against our better judgment. The mechanic, flunky or whatever he is said that the battery that comes with it is cheap and so he gave us a supposedly better one to change when we got it home. After installing the new battery, still nothing. We removed the battery and charged it and still nothing. The 150cc ATV acts like the brakes are stuck on it and it won't go into reverse. Now the Go Cart. After one ride on the large Go Cart 150cc, it won't crank now and it supposedly has a problem with the gas tank fitting stuck or the choke stuck or something like that. All in all not one of them will run right if they run at all and no one will call us back to resolve this. Dennis the owner said that there is nothing he can do to refund us our money since they are now USED since we test drove them or tried to test ride them. We are not rich people and cannot afford to go out and spend another $4000 buying replacements for these and hiring a lawyer will cost as much as we paid for them.

I am so frustrated and mad I can not see straight. Whatever you do DO NOT give these people a DIME of your money or you will totally regret it! I found another persons complaint on them about a dirt bike with the same basic story: http://www.my3cents.com/showReview.cgi?id=21629

Oh Boy, I hope your husband is handy. I had the misfortune of assembling 46 of these chineese bikes, DON'T ASK! First, on the go cart check the fuel filter and line, I found several with the fuel filters installed backwards and lines unconnected. As far as the 150 goes, check the brake adjustment screw, it is probably to tight and as far as reverse goes check the brake switch. Alot of these models won't allow reverse unless the brake is fully applied first. The 110 you are gonna need to trace the battery cables and check for proper ground all the way to the starter, pay close attention to the on/off switch and electrical connectors, they like to come loose and cause a short. Hate to tell you this but it is probably gonna take your husband ever minute until christmas to get these things even running. Wish you the best of luck, if I can help point you in the right direction just ask. DD

Thank you for the advice. My husbands friend is trying to get them going for us. The parts he needs to fix them are not in stock at the the dealer of course so it will probably not happen before Christmas. My kids Christmas is ruined and I am very sad about this.

We bought an ATV for our son for Christmas and the rear frame broke the first day he rode it. Now the place is closed or closing and they have no ATVs in stock to replace it with. The man we dealt with, Mr. Dennis Montgomery was supposed to be the owner and now it turns out he doesn't even work there anymore and was never the owner. He promised to fix or replace the ATV, but now he isnt there anymore. There is a young girl probably 18 years old running the place and she seems to know nothing.

Yes we went by there and it was closed. They have a sign on the door that says they are a member of the Better Business Bureau. I am going to call and file a complaint against them and see if I can get my money back.
