Bally Total Fitness Complaint - Bally Total Fitness Sucks!!!

Review by Eloy on 2007-12-20
I have a membership with Ballys. I was living in California, then I decided to move to Mexico so I asked them to cancel my account. Ok, so in order to make this story short, they asked me for airplane tickets as a proof that I was leaving the country. I sent it to them, of course this was after being 2 hours every day trying to contact a supervisor by phone just waisting my time. So finally I called them from Mexico and asked if they received my information and they said, "yes but it's blurred, we can't see the address or the dates on the tickets in addition e-tickets are not valid in order to cancel the account". Ok, if they don't know in this day and age you can buy e-tickets and travel, they are a bunch of idiots, useless and clueless of what they are doing.

Seriously I strongly NOT RECOMMEND BALLY TOTAL FITNESS to anybody. They scam you, they won't cancel your account for any reason and they will affect your credit. Sorry if I have a writing mistakes because Spanish is my first language but I am very sure of only one thing, BALLYS TOTAL FITNESS SUCKS VERY BAD!!!

Don't ever go there!

I was with Bally for a while. They closed the location near me and gave me the choice of going to a location a little further away or canceling my membership. It was a rather pleasant experience. I don't see how plane tickets would prove that you moved away anyway.

I was 19 and entering college, concerned my finances would be up and down. They said I could get out anytime. When I tried to cancel, they wouldn't let me, harassed me with collectors for 2 years and dropped out of sight. Then last year (14 years later!) I get a notice, pay up or we go to court. My cousin is a lawyer and they agree for me to pay half. By comparison, I joined a non-profit community center gym in NYC, a really nice place. I had to move out of state in the middle of my contract, they asked for a copy of the lease to prove it and one week later they cancelled AND proactively credited for each day paid since the lease was signed. I never asked for a credit. That's the way to run a health club.
