Cheery Hill Photo Complaint - Santa becomes Scrooge

Review by Brothers Grimm on 2007-12-24
DAYTONA, FLORIDA -- Check the grip Santa has on my sonA visit to Daytona Mall in Florida left me scrooged. The cheapest Santa photo was $15. So, I tried to take my own photo. The company, Cherry Hill, has a sign that reads: "We respectfully request you not use your own cameras".

When they saw I had a camera, Santa gripped my son's hands so he could not sit on his lap. Merry Christmas.

Bah humbug

They are there to turn a profit. But they should at least charge a small fee if the customer wants to use their own camera.

Santa's are prevalent. If you look you should be able to find a store-sponsored Santa that doesn't mind if you take a picture.

That is their policy, you seen the sign and you caused the embarrassment to your own child. Santa was wrong for handling your child in that manner, you're son wouldn't understand why Santa did that to him...but again, you brought it on. It would have been more appropriate if Santa's "Helper" which they usually have, would have told you to put your camera away, instead of doing that to your son.

It may not even be what it seems. I read an article about the training that mall Santas now all get. They are instructed to hold the child's hands at all times. This guarantees that no one can claim inappropriate touching. Sad but true. What's even worse than this is that they are now told not to say 'Merry Christmas'. I guess this is so they don't offend all the non-christian children who are coming to celebrate Santa Claus. Go figure.

But while we're on the subject... Merry Christmas to all the posters, and a healthy and happy New Year. I hope you all know how much I enjoy reading you every day.

That thought never crossed my mind KenPopcorn! Sounds like a good idea to me (about the hand thing) not the Merry Christmas! That is just terrible. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to ya! :)
