Wharf Restaurant, Port Aransas, TX Complaint - Sorry Service - Restaurant

Review by Homey on 2007-12-25
PORT ARANSAS, TEXAS -- 12/23/07 - a table of 5. The food was good the service was more than terrible. We were charged with a 20% gratuity for sorry service. The waitress was not only no good, but purposely would forget us, do to an unknown automatic gratuity of 5 or more people. Most fine establishments have 6 to 8 or more. We spoke to the manager who was just as bad as the waitress and they both wanted to argue about the service with us.

Worst service I have ever experienced. We live in the Texas Hill Country and was visiting relatives for Christmas, who does live in the area. We advised the manager that we would never be back again and she replied fine. Never again.

I have only had it happen twice. If a restaurant adds the gratuity on their own I will remove it and they get NO tip. Typically, if the service warrants it I'll go 20%+.

tnchuck...isn't that punishing the waiter for the business' decision? The staff have no say in automatic gratuities, but they lose their tip (if deserved, or course). Depending on the area, that may be the best-paying job they can get, so it's not like they can just quit and go elsewhere if they disagree with management's decision...

This complaint is lacking detail. What about the service was so bad?
