Pure Weight Loss Complaint - Closing of Business - Weight Loss Center

Review by doe doe on 2007-12-28
CALUMET CITY(LANSING), ILLINOIS -- I joined this company in order to lose weight & they uncermoniously closed during my sessions. I am required to send a certified letter to them demanding my refund when I feel they should just give me my money. I am in belief that they will be trying to file for bankrupcy and not pay anyone. I believe they were dishonest and distrustful in their practices. They did not notify me in a timely manner. I came in for my regular visit & was then informed of their closure within 2 weeks time. The products that I paid for in advance was not available to me. I had to return for that product and did not receive all of it. It is just a mess.

Whats the big deal??. They don't care how you feel, but they may just deny you any money if you do not follow the instructions and send your refund request certified mail. Things happen, and while you cannot control the closing of this place, you can control your emotions long enough to get that certified letter going.

Skye is right, send your letter as instructed ASAP and contact the Attorney General in your state.

I think Jay is giving the benefit of the doubt. There is virtually nothing you can do if a company goes out of business. I wouldn't even bother wasting another minute as you can't get a refund from an entity that doesn't exist, and any former owners cannot be reached legally by piercing the corporate vale. As far as notifying you, they probably are saddled with a fortune lost in the venture and emanate loss of their business. They are not going to cover anymore losses, hence filing for bankruptcy. Therefor, arguing with you over a refund you're not getting wasn't probably a priority to them.
