Wickes Furniture Co Inc Informative - Wickes Sucks
PORTLAND, OREGON -- On Nov. 4, 2007, we ordered an entertainment unit and two chairs for delivery by Christmas since we were expecting visitors for the holidays. This was still 7 weeks away and we figured this was enough lead time. The salesperson told us it could be two weeks if the furniture was in California, and up to four weeks if it wasn't. Three weeks later, we called and were told it wouldn't be delivered until Dec. 29, too late for our original reason for ordering; we decided to not cancel our order, though, since we still liked what we picked out.
Today is December 29th; the truck shows up with half an entertainment center. The other half might come in by Jan. 11 and still no final word on the chairs. Bottom line: This furniture store could not deliver basic furniture within two months, and more significantly, they couldn't follow up on any delivery time that THEY THEMSELVES committed to. After looking on-line for other people's experiences, it turns out we're probably better off, since many people have complained about the sub-par quality and the dismal customer support once furniture is actually delivered.
BOTTOM LINE: We will not shop at Wickes again. I'm actually pretty amazed that they're still in business.
