Audi Complaint - Warranty - A4

A4 - Complaint
Review by Anonymous on 2003-09-02
ALGONQUIN, ILLINOIS -- My advice to anyone who is thinking about buying an audi "DONT DO IT. YOU WILL REGRET IT"
I have anu 2002 A4. I took it to the dealership and among other things I asked them to fix the dust that had collected in my speedometer. The dealership later called me and told me that it is normal for it to collect dust and there is nothing that they can do. I then called the manufacturer and asked them to take care of it. The "Customer Care" specialist told me that it is not a defect. I am appauled my this response. They claim to provide an "optimum owner experience". The amount of money I spent on this car you expect that they will make a good product. This car squeeks at different places. It is not the German Engineering that you are led to believe in.

MY ADVICE, SAVE YOUR MONEY AND SPEND IT SOMEWHERE ELSE>

I have a 2002 Audi TT roadster. Pick any twelve month period since I bought it, and it will have spent more time in the dealership or other shop than the cumulative time my 2000 Subaru as been in the shop in 7 1/2 years!

And boy, when the warranty runs out, look out! I think that's how they pay for all the warranty repairs--by marking up parts for those out of warranty. Examples: radiator fan $500+, electric window motor $285, both of these plus labor. Even front brake pads are over $100!!!

Back in the 70's Audi cars were notorious for their electrical shorts. In the 80's they had big time mechanical problems, especially with FWD and the famous forward lurch. Now, it seems Audi has it all together--both electrical and mechanical are junk!
