Juniper Bank Complaint - US Airways Mastercard

Complaint
Review by RyanDE on 2007-12-31
DELAWARE -- Recently I received a letter from Juniper, now Barclays Bank, saying was 6 months past due. I called and paid off my balance in May 2007. Apparently there was a charge that they didn't know about until sometime in June. So for the past six months they have been sending emails to an account I don't use anymore -- never once did they try to call or send any type of traditional ways of communicating. I call them to take care of the issue and they say they won't remove the negative reports on my credit report.

Now I'm upset....I have yet to hear back from them even though I sent in a payment....has anyone had any kind success with them?

I am filing something to the DE AG.

this very same issue has come up before. specially after paying off a credit card, they seem to add some sort of intrest charges.

"I am filing something to the DE AG."

not sure what this means, but the ftc is the one you will want to contact.

They add interest charges after you pay it off because the interest accrues daily and you won't know the exact amount unless you ask for a payoff figure.

But anyway in regards to the OP, I always have them send a letter saying the account is paid and closed. I also keep a card for a few billing cycles at zero. That way you're sure no charges will come through. I would think they would have had collection agents calling you much before 6 months but I guess they don't work that way. It really isn't their fault you had your statements emailed to an address you no longer use.

You were late in paying, regardless of the reason. The negative reports don't go away on your credit reports when you pay. They say you are late in paying.

Is it possible you opted out of paper statements? If so, they are completely right, if not you may have a complaint.

You can opt out of paperless statements, banks and credit cards offer it all the time. Also, if you normally pay your bills online, wouldn't you at least periodically check on open accounts you have? I have a couple cards that are paid in full, but I still periodically pull them up just to see if there are any changes to the credit limit or interest rates.
