PC Parts Unlimited Complaint - They send the wrong/broken parts then won't refund
EASTLAKE, OHIO -- They are a pure scam and theres no other word for it. I ordered a simple video card from them (an NVIDIA GeForce4 MX440) and when my order came, instead of that they shipped an obviously damaged card of a completely different manufacturer. When I say damaged I mean...the capacitors on the little board were literally dented in on top and there was felt tip pen marks all over the place. This was obviously a piece of junk before they boxed it, this did not occur during shipping. I find it rather ironic too that right on my sales order it states " Pre-Test This Item $1.25", that....speaks for itself I would say. Now, here comes the truly crappy part. They wouldn't answer my e-mails so I started calling as well.
Weeks went by, I would call and leave a message and never get any response back....until after 30 days miraculously at which time they tried to claim that my 30 day warranty was up so I wasn't entitled to a refund because I hadn't contacted them within the time limit. This will seem as ridiculous to anyone reading this as it does to me I offered to show them my phone records showing that I had been calling and they literally just didn't care, claiming I hadn't tried phoning or e-mailing. The funny thing here is the manager seemed shocked when I read his personal e-mail address back to him and then said I shouldn't even have it......it was in my e-mail box as an ad for laptops. They shipped....the WRONG and BROKEN card to me and then dodged my calls and e-mails until 30 days had elapsed.
To add to this they were completely indignant and not sorry at all for their mistake, actually wanting to charge me a "restocking fee" of 20% on the broken card acting as if I was trying to rip them off when the opposite was true.
To sum it all up they refused to do anything and I ended up having to call my credit card company. I hope this saves someone a few dollars and stress. I wish I had just looked them up before I ordered but I was lost in a holiday blur. I will never order anything from a questionable company again.
