H&M Complaint - gift card - clothing store
Recently, my purse was stolen. Obviously, this presented a huge hassle with the insurance information, canceling credit cards, obtaining a new driver's license, etc. My purse also contained a number of giftcards that I had recently received for my birthday. I had the numbers for these giftcards and was quite pleased when all of the companies (GAP, Target, and Crate and Barrel) agreed to cancel my giftcards and send me new cards for the remaining balance. All of the companies did this except H&M. When I called their gift card hotline, I was told that the giftcards worked just like cash and could not be refunded in any way. When I explained that the other companies were able to do this since I had the giftcard number, the response I received was "Well, we aren't those other companies, we are H&M." The other companies were able to make a difficult situation a little easier for me. I did not have that much money left on my H&M card (only app. $25 was left), but I think H&M could have been a little more customer service oriented. And, maybe they should implement a way to cancel stolen giftcards, since it is obviously possible. I love H&M clothing, but I'm not sure if I will shop there again, and I certainly won't be asking for or purchasing any giftcards from them.
