Applebee's Complaint - Losing karaoke

Review by mr x on 2008-01-03
BROOKLYN, NEVADA -- The Applebee’s on Emmons Avenue, Brooklyn had karaoke on Tuesday nights. The following, was a large one. I have in my group any where from 15 to 30 people alone. Since Mike took over there was a very entertaining and family atmosphere. We all looked forward to Tuesday night now someone has pulled karaoke and a lot of people have tried to voice their opinions, but no one has taken responsibility for this action and no one wants to deal with it in the home office.

We have called 914-777-2331 ext 148 and left messages with someone called Joe and have gotten no response. We have spoke to Denise on ext 146 and she says she has sent e-mail out about our plight but no response. This coming Tuesday I would bet anything that it will not be the same as the Tuesdays past.

My family and friends enjoyed going to Applebee’s before karaoke and now we won’t go as we used to go anymore we haven’t gone since 12/18/07 and we won’t till the wrong is righted. My family and I miss the staff when we were going at least 2 times a week it was a nice place good service good food.

I feel pulling Tuesday karaoke was a mistake and I wished someone would have looked more into the move made before it was made.

Yours Truly Heading to Fridays and Outback

Does Fridays and Outback have Karaoke? If not, what's the point? Karaoke is an acquired taste at best. If you don't want to participate, then all it becomes is an entire night listening to horrid abortions from people who can't sing to save their life. Your group may be up to 30 strong, but you also may be keeping 100 people away. Bottom line is the bottom line. It's their business and they know what is and isn't working for them. Besides, you're in Brooklyn. I'm sure you all can find another bar that has karaoke on Tuesdays.

I agree with slim, what is fun for you and your friends could be an annoyance to others. If they are losing other customers because of karaoke than like slim said they have to go with the bottom line and cut out the loser.

Boy did you ever hit that nail right on the head, Slim! For every person who would go to karaoke, there are twenty (like me) who would avoid the place, because they don't want to listen that wailing while they are trying to enjoy a meal.

I have no respone to this.(other than the one i just gave)

We no longer go to our favorite Mexican Food haunt on Friday's because they have a social group meet between 6:00 - 9:00. They are loud and about 50 strong. I noticed none of them ever ordered any food, they just drank a lot. Maybe the bar income was worth getting rid of the dinner patrons?

No one wants to hear someone butchering "take on me" by Aha.

Mr. X if you don't have a problem commuting or wearing KEVLAR, there is a chicken joint in Louisville, Kentucky that has great Karaoke and keel! Indi's I believe.

I figured something like this would happen once IHOP took over... in fact I posted such as a review not too long ago. And I quote:

"I kept my silence when IHOP announced its buying Apple Bee’s as I did not want to panic irrationally and overreact completely. I did nothing when it tried to prevent us from recognizing the vast and incomparable achievements, contributions, and discoveries that are the product of the Apple Bee’s culture."

An y'all thought ole Stew was crazy... I guess events proved different.

I gotta give you your "props" on that one, Stewart.
Btw, OU should have been playing WEEKS ago!
USC kicks a$$!!!!

Zz, Ohio State -vs- USC, now that would have been a game. OU showed up with no game plan, they thought they would run up 50+ points and that would do it. Maybe next year.

ZZ, I believe the karaoke bar is at a different location than Indi's. You have to "keel-up" first, then hit the next dive for the $5 schlitz pitchers and crooning. I hear it's best to leave the Kevlar vest on though. One guy told me it not only accessorizes well with leather, but functionality takes the stage if the Eason's are at the bar while he's performing a Hansen power set.

The reason you are having trouble voicing your opinion is because they took away the karaoke microphone. (mike)

I’m glad they stopped karaoke I don’t want someone singing hit me baby one more time while I’m eating my food thank you Applebee’s.

*tears to the Hansen power set*
Super, I'd like to see SC vs LSU.

That would be a good game but there is no history between them like an OSU / USC match up. I really hate the BCS this year.

that game last night was BOOORIINNGGG!!

So much for Hawaii's claim on the national championship and going undefeated.

They are real tough over there with the time difference and all.
