Amazon.com Informative - Book order through Amazon Marketplace
My daughter joined the USPC (United States Pony Club) in September of 2007. It's a great organization that provides opportunities to improve a kid's riding ability and their knowledge of horses through fun competitions and events. Kids have to study up on all aspects of horse care, and "rate up" as they get more proficient. In order to get started, she needed to complete her initial rating, so I ordered a used copy of the first handbook through a third party seller in Amazon Marketplace.
The book never arrived. I tried using the tracking number, but all it ever told me was that it had left the postal facility in California. When I had reached the end of my 30-day delivery window, I contacted the seller and they never replied.
Amazon did reply, however, stating basically that unless you charge your Amazon Marketplace order through the Amazon Credit Card, they will not guarantee delivery.
I know that this was probably covered in the fine print, and the book didn't cost that much, but I'm still disgusted with a company that says "unless you use our credit card and buy into big company financing, good luck!"
I'll stick with Ebay from now on, and will use the competitors of Amazon partners whenever possible. Thanks for nothing Amazon!
