Spirit Airlines Complaint - Spirit Airlines is very unfair
TR, NEW JERSEY -- On January 7, 2007, I had booked (2) airline ticket reservations on Spirit Air, costing $507.60. The reservation was scheduled for April 2007. However, I had to cancel that reservation and was told that I had up to (1) year to use them. In September 2007, I called Spirit Airlines to ask them if I can schedule my trip for AFTER the deadline date of January 7, 2008. I was told YES, as long as I booked it BEFORE January 7, 2008. In December 2007, I made reservations for a hotel in Orlando, Florida for February 2008. I called Spirit Air to use the vouchers for February, 2008. I was told that their policy had changed (which I was never informed) and that I had to physically be in the air by January 7, 2008. Now, it was a week before Christmas and I had family visiting. I couldn't take a vacation from work, during that time. It wasn't possible for me and my husband to go on vacation BY January 7, 2008.
The airline told me that there was nothing they could do. I called my credit card company, which I used to pay originally. They show a history of a reservation booked for April, but being that it's 1 year later, the payment had already processed. They advised me to have Spirit Air call them and they will credit my account. I called Spirit Air's corporate office in Florida, but all I get is a recording prompting me to press this number, and when it's pressed, it's busy and if another number is pressed, it hangs up on you. I was only able to contact the reservation department, where after about 40 minutes, wasn't able tp help me. She refused to connect me to a supervisor and told me that they're assisting other customers. I said I would wait, but after 5 minutes, she came back and told me no one was available. She then apologized and told me that there was nothing that they can do.
Please help me. I do not know who to turn to about this situation. $507.60 is a lot of money for my husband and I. I don't want to lose out on either being able to use these tickets in February or to have the money credited to my account.
