Ashley Furniture Complaint - Poor Quality! - T793-1 cocktail table, T793-2 end table, and D199-
CASER, WYOMING -- The stone top cocktail & end table I purchased both had what appeared to be small amounts of mud on the rocks. I took a toothbrush & some soapy water & gently tried to remove this. The water turned dark brown. There was a dirty substance coming off the entire top of both tables. The tables were returned & new ones shipped. These had the same substance. These were also returned to the store of origin. After contacting Ashely, I was advised that the stones were sealed with "WAX", and cleaning with soap and water was not recommended. THERE WERE NO CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS SENT WITH THE TABLES, OR AVAILABLE AT THE STORE THAT SOLD THESE. I do not believe this was wax. There is no waxy feel to the top of the tables and more of this substance came off of the darker colored stone than the lighter colored stone. This substance could even be toxic. If something should spill on the stone tops & need to be cleaned, good luck! We purchased similar tables from another manufacturer that had sealed the stone with a substance that does not scrub off.
KITCHEN TABLE, BENCHES, & CHAIRS
These items,(purchased from Ashley furniture), were found to have very little protective coating (such as polyurathane) on them. Merely placing a set of keys on the table top resulted in damaging the wood by leaving scratches. We resolved this by purchasing (at our expense) a glass top for that table, & cushions for the seating. I have found this furniture to be inferior in quality and would NEVER purchase Ashley furniture again under any circumstances.
