Wingate Inn Informative - Awful Experience
After a long day of traveling, we stopped at a Wingate Inn. My first question to the desk clerk was "Do you have a room with two queen beds?" She replied yes and that's all they have. I proceeded to rent the room. Four of us dragged our stuff to the room. We discover two double beds. I addressed the clerk with this problem hoping to switch rooms. Only she didn't know the difference between double and queen; there were no others. She offered to cancel all the paperwork so we could go somewhere else. Hesitantly, we decided to stay due to exhaustion.
Apparently, the room was a dud. Several feet from the window was the brightest spotlight imaginable. No problem, shut the curtains. Except the heating unit blew the curtains six feet out. My sleep consisted of a bright light, a curtain "thing" and my daughters knee in my back.
They knew that room had this issue. I wasn't the first to discover the light and they were not busy at all, plenty of empty spaces in the parking lot. The following morning, I very nicely reported our experience to a different clerk. No apology nor any kind of compensation was offered.
Tried communicating this experience on a corporate level, but all they wanted was all my personal information. They didn't care at all.
Needless to say, we will never stay at any Wingate Inn again and would not recommend a stay to anyone else, especially since corporate doesn't care.
