Epson Complaint - Epson Rebate Scam
SALEM, OREGON -- 11/10/07 purchased Epson brand ink & paper at Office Depot. Inside ink box was $5.00 rebate offer; documents had to be postmarked by 1/31/08. I assembled all required documents (copy of cash register receipt, UPC codes from boxes of ink & paper, & rebate form), hand-addressed the envelope, and mailed it to the address printed on the rebate form of: "EPSON Premium Bright White Paper & EPSON Ink Cartridge, $5 REBATE, P.O. BOX 14105-EP217, MASCOUTAH, IL 62224-4105 on 12/14/07.
My envelope was returned marked "Undeliverable as addressed." Thinking perhaps my handwriting was illegible to the postman (it's quite clear, actually), I typed a new envelope and resent all documents including the first envelope noting the address was correct, on 12/31/07. On 1/9/08 I received second envelope back also marked "Undeliverable as addressed." I've emailed Epson on their site using their email form to tell them about this and that I am not happy having wasted my time, energy, and $.82 in postage for nothing, and also inquiring why they offer rebates when they just weasel out of them. I doubt I'll get a real answer if I get one at all.
Ironically, I don't even LIKE the Epson printer we got for free for buying other computer components. Oddly, there was an Epson rebate involved with that, too, and they DID honor it, although they were pokey about it! Aggravating...it's not the money; it's the principle! Companies should stand by their products and honor their offers!
