Ashley Furniture Complaint - Don't let this happen to you!
BUFFALO, NEW YORK -- First off - please be sure to file your complaints with the BBB. I am surprised as to how many people are unhappy yet no one will write up a complaint to the BBB - this company has a satisfactory rating yet I read that so many people are unhappy with them! I am writing this to let you know to be weary of this company. If you look at the furniture they have vs someone like Raymour & Flanigan - you will find the material subpar. That is why I cancelled my order and which has led to my now going on 5 month ordeal with this company.
When you cancel the order (obviously they will tell you it is already made and on its way and you can't get proof of that - you have to take their word for it) - they will offer you a store credit or the 20% restocking fee. Please BE AWARE!!!! They will base both of those on the FINAL PURCHASE PRICE and not just the merchandise. THEY CANNOT CHARGE YOU FOR WHAT YOU DON'T HAVE - I.E. WARRANTY OR DELIVERY - LET ALONE SALES TAX!! A merchandise credit is just that - a credit for merchandise. You can't offer merchandise credit on a service that hasn't been performed, nor on sales tax.
Also, BE AWARE that Ashley Furniture has 2 policies now taking place - one of a 12% restocking fee and the other is the 20% restocking fee. So look at your contract.
I have been trying to spread the word. I have decided to pay the restocking fee (once they correct it) rather than to have to ever deal with this company again with poor workmanship and even poorer customer service. I know of not one person out of 35 people that I have talked to that have purchased something there that they are happy with the company or the people who have delivered and damaged the material, and they spent weeks to months trying to get it repaired.
I have learned my lesson and hope to save someone all the hassle that I am still going through to this day. Spend the extra money and go to a reputable, high class furniture store for your next purchase.
