Bob's Discount Furniture Complaint - Ruined my Son's Biggest Christmas Gift.... A Room Makeover
NEW WINDSOR, NEW YORK -- On September 23, 2007 my husband went to Bob's Discount Furniture to pick out a new bedroom set for our 5 year old son. Our son had asked us to give him a "Big Boy" room for Christmas...so that was our intent. Upon arriving at Bob's and selecting the bedroom set that we wanted, we were given an invoice that had the furniture marked up a few hundred dollars more than it was. We should off walked out the store then, but gave them the benefit of the doubt. Made our final payment by the end of November and was given a delivery date of Wednesday, December 26, 2007. My husband took off a day from work and waited for the furniture. My son was so excited and couldn't wait to come home from school and see his room all done over. Well...they came, but the bunk bed that we ordered was defective and the parts didn't match up. The delivery team call the warehouse and told them that we needed a different set of rails for the top bunk. Later that evening while sitting in our son's room, we noticed that one of the dresser drawers was badly scratched and the wood on the desk was chipped from the installation.
Well, we called the warehouse the following day and was told that the rails and the desk would be in by the 2nd week in January, and the drawer wouldn't be in until APRIL! We told them that the bed was the main piece that we needed and they said fine. We were then told that the rails came into the warehouse and would be delivered on January 9. Well...they came and they were the same incorrect/defective rails we had received the first time. Now they told us that the problem was in the headboard and the footboard, but insisted that they would delivery then the following week. The date was set up, my husband took off from work again, and they called and said that the headboard and footboard wouldn't be on the truck because they were "Out of Stock". We were just told days before that they were in the warehouse. WHAT IS GOING ON HERE!!!!!!! We insisted that they come and pick up ALL of their furniture and to give us a full refund. They tried to get up to keep it, but we insisted that this was not an option.
They scheduled a pick up on Saturday, January 12, 2007 between 1:10 pm and 4:10 pm. My son and I sat home all day and waited for the truck to come. My son was very upset that this was happening to him and asked "Why are they so Mean to you Mommy?" I told him to worry and we are still going to get you room done...just not with Bob's. I called about six times to find out were the truck was on the 12th, and the representatives told me that they were on their way. Well....about 3:30 pm, someone from Bob's called and told me that the truck wasn't coming because the merchandise wasn't on the truck. I'M NOT RECEIVING MERCHANDISE..... I NEED MERCHANDISE PICK UP FROM MY HOUSE!!! They ruined our entire day and when speaking with the representatives - they didn't even care.
So, I just want to say "Thank You" Bob's for ruining my son's Christmas and a customer. Come and get your furniture immediately, give me my money, and I want nothing more to do with you.
Anyone who is thinking about purchasing furniture from Bob's...PLEASE DON'T. They care NOTHING about their customers.
