Sage Software ACT Complaint - Locked out of program
I have been using ACT for 4 years. It has been nothing but lies, misrepresention and problems. When I first started using ACT my computer would run extremely slow. ACT told me I needed a faster computer with more memory. I purchased a Dell that was beyond their requirements. It still ran extremly slow. An ACT developer and other complaints verify that ACT is extremely resource hungry and many people have problems. ACTs ansewer is for everybody to buy a new computer. Various features in ACT don't work. I'm not going to spend my time with that. I was told by ACT to attend training classes for a week. However, you have to pay for an owners manual $49 and they will not answer one question without buying a service plan $299. So I purchased a service plan to get advise from their experts. The first group of service people know nothing and I mean nothing about the product. They will waste at least 40 min of your time before they will bump you up to someone who knows anything. Simply put, they wasted my time.
In addition to ACT I also use QBlink by sage which links ACt with QuickBooks. This program quit working in Oct 2006 when QB was updated. I called and of coarse they would talk to me until I purchased the support plan mentioned above for $299. These people knew nothing but convinced me thire was something wrong with my computer. I paid $200 for my computer to be checked by a professional. He could not find any problem. Finally ACT acknowledge there was a problem and a fix would be coming. The fix came out Jan 07 but the program still wouldn't link. Next I was told I needed to update my QB link, after I did that I was told I needed to update my ACt from 2006 ver to 2007 ver. I did that, it still didn't work. Finally in April I got through to Sally Dickerson at corporate customer service. She apologized and told me she would connect me to their top guy at headqurters. He was suppose to be as good as it gets. He told me my db was corrupt and send him the file. When I got the file back, it still didn't work. Only then did he go in and try the demo db in ACT. It wouldn't link either. Hmmmmmm he said.
I will have to research and get back with you. June or July 07, I got tired of waiting and called again. He appologized spent about an hour on my computer, never got anything going and siad Hmmmmmmmmm that's not what I was expecting. He would have to have another guy who specializes in something different try. The guy never contacted me, I call again, the guy tries for a couple of hours and he can't get it going. He said ther is something wrong with your computer. OK tell me what. I use other prigrams that link and none of them have any problems. He told me I would have to wipe my hard drive clean and reload all my programs. Yeah right. I asked for a refund and was told I would get one. I never did. During this entire time Sage continues to claim these prigrams work and advertise as such on their web site. Now the clincher, after I upgraded to ACT 2007, once a onth I get locked out of the program. Upon start up, I get the meassage that my 30 day trial has expired and click to purchase. Nine times now I have had to call and get a new activation code. They also gave me a new serial number one time. ACT continue to say there was no problem with the program, that they had fixed the problem and I would not be locked out again. Nine times. Finally the last time the service tech had me download the "30 day trial has expired" fix. ahhh. There was a problem.
Worst experience I've ever had with ANY company software or not. I replaced the program and am not having any problems with new program. For other ACT users good luck.
