Expedia.co.uk Complaint - Failed Hotel Reservation / Customer Service

Review by trubow2002 on 2003-09-08
ATLANTIC CITY, NEW JERSEY -- In August I booked a weekend stay in the Tropicana Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City, NJ. We flew 5000 miles from Manchester England for this particular weekend. When we arrived in NJ and attempted to check in to the Tropicana Hotel we were told there was no reservation and no available rooms. I was very upset that Expedia had failed to come through after the transaction was placed and was forced to stay in a hotel I would not normally patron. After returning I noticed the money had been removed from my account and was in Expedia's possesion. I attempted to call but found that all complaints were handled over the Internet. I wrote two emails regarding the complaint before I received a response. The response I received stated almost nothing regarding the error but only that they would try to "investigate" the complaint and return to me within the next 28 DAYS!!! I was not pleased with that response and have on average had to write two emails to get someone to eventually respond with useless information. My girlfriend called and was told that she had to use the Internet to send in a complaint and that it was her fault that we did not call Expedia from the hotel and let them straighten it out for us. I have never had such poor service from any company in my life and assure anyone reading this that if you choose Expedia to trust your holiday bookings or anything for that matter you are taking a large risk which may turn out to be more trouble than you ever imagined. In the future I will never consider this company for anything in which I am involved and from what I have read from the other complaints posted on this site, this seems to be the norm for Expedia.
