Philadelphia Wireless / Earthlink Informative - Philly Wireless Is Useless, Don't Waste Your Time

Review by Waltor on 2008-01-15
PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA -- Philly Wireless, while perhaps built with good intentions, is Philadelphia's new SEPTA or PGW, and anyone who lives in Philly knows how miserable they are. Philly Wireless service is abhorrent and their customer service is no better. With a 95% strong signal, speeds are less than dial up, and you get kicked off every 2 minutes...and that's with their signal boosting modem, as well as without it. It's completely useless.

Call to cancel, and you'll be transferred 3 times until you get an Indian call center, who pull an AOL on you and do everything they can to stop you. Once finally cancelled, an hour later, you're still out the modem shipping and first month service fees, even though you were only able to get online all of 10 minutes during a week before giving up.

Do yourself a favor and get dial-up if cant afford DSL, it's more reliable...and sadly, faster. Philly Wireless does nothing but confirm that anything run in this city is preposterously corrupt and useless. If you enjoy watching SEPTA buses pass you at your stop w/o stopping... then have the nerve to raise fares, you'll love what Earthlink has done with Philly Wireless.
