SonyStyle Complaint - Shipping ripoff beware

Review by firemedicmike on 2008-01-18
I ordered a battery for my Sony Ericsson phone. While talking to the customer service rep I took the battery out gave him the number off the actual battery bst-37. Made my purchase and paid an extra $11 dollars for 2 day air. When my package arrived it was a bst-33 a much wideer battery that cannot fit, it was obvious. I called SonyStyle back and was told that it is a "compatible battery" and that was why it was shipped, not the one I ordered. After speaking with a supervisor I guess someone actually held the 2 batteries side by side and saw that they are not "compatible". Sonystyles soulution, have me send the battery back at my expense, and they will credit my charge card back the cost of the battery only not the extra $11 dollars I paid.

So I'm out $11 dollars for the initial shipping plus the cost of sending back their "compatible" battery. When I complained that it wasn't fair that I'm out 20 dollars because they sent me something they felt was "compatible" I was basically told to bad.

Call your credit card company and dispute the entire charge. When Sony screams, just tell them to send you a mailer and you will return the purchase.

'frost my Fritos'?! Laughing so hard, actually spit out some coffee on that one.

Good suggestion Popcorn - I do a lot of mail ordering and always feel helpless and frustrated when something like this happens. I've always chalked it up to the cost of mail-order convenience.
