Ford Motor Informative - Wheel Bearing Failure
MICHIGAN -- My wife reported a humming noise as I do not drive this car frequently. I got the opportunity to drive it and it felt like the right front brake was sticking with a loud roar. I took it to a Ford Garage and they reported the Wheel Bearing was severely damaged and the vehicle only had 13K miles. It is covered under warranty, but it will take a month to get parts as the spindle, bearings and hub were compromised because of severe heat and wear. The technician said do not drive it is very unsafe it appears Ford installed bad bearings. When I called Ford Customer Service wow did they get defensive and not very accommodating. Everything runs off the VIN number so she knew everything about my situation before I called, that is why they get so defensive as they have already taken a position of aggressive denial. Oh by the way these are safety critical components and Ford should be more concerned with the safety of their consumer than resorting to denial.
If you have a 2007 MKZ have your front wheel bearings checked soon. We purchased our vehicle in November of 2006. How about a TSB before someone gets injured.
