Toys R Us Informative - Customer service
I am speaking as a Toys R Us employee. I have read many blogs concerning customer service and return policy. Before being employed in the retail environment I did not understand a no return without receipt policy.
But let me tell you of another perspective. Most of retail is having to go to this type of policy. Due to large volume of shoplifting. I was shocked to see this even people using their children to shoplift. One of the biggest complaints I hear is "It has the TRU tag on the item" well that does not necessarily mean the item was purchased. A receipt is proof of purchase, not that the item came from the store. We have even had many cases caught on camera of people bringing in receipts of items actually purchased - going to the shelf- picking up the same item then going to the service desk to return. It is a sad situation that these "bad apples" have to make this situation hard for us all.
But as an employee of Toys R Us, I have been cused at, spit on, yelled out, and items thrown at me, for simply doing my job. We don't make the rules or are not the cause for the rules having to be set in the first place. But just like you in your job we can only abide by the policies.
