MyShoeStore.com Complaint - Avoid: Possible Scam

Review by ConcernedConsumerNH on 2008-01-21
HAMPTON, NEW HAMPSHIRE -- This complaint is about Myshoestore.com. Please be advised they have a sister store/website called www.lordjohnsfootwear.com. Same owner; same web hosting company.

This company has so many complaints against it, it's not funny.

Every complaint is the same, including my experience. I ordered shoes online, and was immediately charged on my credit card for the purchase. After waiting several weeks, and no shoes arrived, I called customer service. After long waits on the phone, I spoke with a rude woman who told me the shoes were never in stock, but ordered from the manufacturer. I was stunned; everything about my confirmation email led me to believe the shoes were in stock. I canceled the order and asked for a refund.

Guess what? I'm still waiting for a refund.

I waited over a half an hour yesterday to get through to customer service. Same rude woman. Would not let me speak to her manager. Would not let me speak to anyone in billing. Just took the information and said she'd open an "inquiry" into my order. I'm out almost $180.00 now, and Myshoestore.com has it.

After doing a search for them on the web, turns out they do this same thing to hundreds of unsuspecting people, and have been doing it since 2005.

Of course, do not use this site.

Also, I have several questions about their credit card merchant account, as well as their web hosting company. Why would either do business with this company?

If it has been less than 60 days dispute the charge with your credit card company.

Most web-based stores have no real stock. They simply order from a warehouse for drop shipping. That's why it can be next to impossible to get a refund or an exchange. Once the order is placed they forget you exist.

Might I ass/u/me this was your first time ordering from them? I hate to see anyone taken, but since you seem to have so much info on them *after* the fact, why didn't you investigate before you placed your order?
