America's Best Value Inn Complaint - Horrible experience - Hotel
LUMBERTON, NORTH CAROLINA -- We were traveling late at night on I95. We stopped at the the Best Value Inn around 11:00 pm. The reservation desk person said she would put us on the "quiet" side of the hotel.
When we entered the room, I hardly wanted to stay. It had a musty smell. Some of the lights didn't work. We tried to switch rooms but the two other rooms we looked at were in worse shape. The on-site manager did not care. She had a take-it-or-leave-it attitude, saying that we had already paid for the room and that there would be no refund.
We were tired from traveling and thought we could manage to be there for seven hours while we slept. Upon going to bed, we noticed the a/c unit rattled loudly. Shortly thereafter, drag-racing started just outside the hotel. By 2:00 am, we were both still awake from the racing and rattling. We packed up, left the room, and stopped by the office to return the key. Again, a refund was denied.
I wrote to Corporate Guest Relations about our experience and requested a refund. We were again denied a refund, but they offered a "free night" at the same dreadful hotel in the future.
