General Electric Company Complaint - Not Satisfied With Spiral Light Bulbs

Review by Alegra on 2008-01-22
GLENWOOD, GEORGIA -- This is the third time I have complained about the spiral light bulbs (that are according to GE is supposed to last 5 years). The longest period of service I have gotten out of these bulbs is 6 months. They are NOT enclosed, but they just do not last. I was told at one time to take it back to the company from whom I purchased them, but the company did not manufacture the bulbs. You did and you are supposed to stand behind your products.

I am VERY dissatisfied with this product and I will certainly discourage everyone I know from purchasing these bulbs.

Have you been using the same brand light bulbs? Perhaps there is a manufacture defect?

How are you using them? I have seen some that are labelled not to use horizontally or hanging down - use them only in an upright position like in a lamp. Something to do with heat dissipation.

Hugh I was about to say just that. They have it marked on the boxes which types of bulbs go with each type of lamp. We have one in our stand up lamp in the living room and have had it for over 8 months with no issues. Check the box you purchased, it may be as simple as you grabbing the wrong package of bulbs that cause them to burn out so quickly.

I've been using these type bulbs for over two years now. I've yet to see one burn out or go bad. Once again Hugh tosses up a gem of wisdom.

i have an entire home of these types of bulbs. about 20, i have had 1 die in the last 3 years. sometimes a bulb can be just a bad bulb.

I've had one go bad. And, come to think of it, it is in a sideways position--not upright. The others have been fine.

Arnie is a prevert it is well known and these light bulbs are not good for your eyes or the rest of the envierment either. That's all they use over here and I can't see a thing.
