Fair Oaks Auto Sales Service Department Complaint - Terrible Service Department
FAIR OAKS, CALIFORNIA -- I bought a used 2005 Chevrolet Classic from Fair Oaks Auto Sales on October 31st 2007. I received excellent sales service however in late December my brakes began to grind. I work from home so I rarely have to drive my car. I got in my car on January 19th and my brakes were grinding so bad that I could not drive my car. I'm familiar with brakes so I bought new brake pads for $14.99 and had help from a mechanic changing them. While we were changing the pads we noticed that both front break pad censors had been cut off. For those of you who may not know, brake pads have a metal piece on them and when the pad gets low the metal piece, censor, will rub the rotor and make that squeaking noise that alerts you when you need new brake pads. This metal piece can be bent back to stop the squeaking until the pads are replaced. In my case, the mechanic broke off the pieces to stop the squeaking for good. The problem with this is you will not know you need pads until the base of the brake pad grinds against the rotor. This is very dangerous and can be very costly if the rotors get worn and need to be replaced. Fortunately for me I had some knowledge of brakes but not everyone does.
I cannot tell you how upset and mad I am that someone in the service center thought $14.99 was too much money or that 30 minutes was just too long to change the pads. I called Fair Oaks Auto Sales and spoke with a manager that seemed to be very surprised and defensive of his service department crew. But then again why wouldn't he be.
