Wal-Mart Informative - Walmart Tire Scam - Tires and installation
HAGERSTOWN, MARYLAND -- This report is in reference to Hagerstown Walmart tire policy.
I went to Walmart to purchase two new rear tires for my truck. My truck currently has GoodYear Tracker 2 265/70/16. I wanted to have the new tires placed on my rear axle. Walmart advise me that I would have to purchased four tires because I have a four wheel drive. I told them that my front tires has at least 1/2 the tread life of the tire and I did not want them replaced. They stated they would not put new tires on my truck at that point. I then ask them, Why would I throw away good tires and money down the drain. They stated that was their policy and Goodyear policy. They did however offer to put the tires on my truck if I took the tires over to them and then they would mount them. From what I can see from here is Walmart and Goodyear has a scam in the works or a communication problem.
At this point I wanted to stay with the same tire and tread pattern and went ahead and purchased the two tires I needed for my truck and took the tires to a gas station and had them mounted for an additional cost.
Walmart copy of Goodyear policy does not state anywhere that you must buy four new tires. I also ask the Walmart Employee for a copy of the Walmart policy and they could not provide me with a copy. The employee called a Frederick Walmart and asked for a copy and they could not provide a fax copy of that policy. I think people are being taken by the undocumented policy.
