Days Inn Complaint - IInfectious pool; dirty establishment; lousy service
ALTON, ILLINOIS -- Three of us stayed at the Days Inn in Alton, IL, from Aug. 23-28.
Where to start?
The swimming pool. All three of us ended up with ear infections as a result of swimming in the pool, requiring each of us to make a trip to the local emergency room. (We swam nowhere else or used water for bathing anywhere else during our stay.) We called the state health department.
An attempted break-in to our room at 9 a.m. on a weekeday that the manager casually dismissed as a mistake by another guest. He offered no follow up either through internal security or through the local police department.
And then there was the condition of the room itself: In real need of paint; carpet that had all of us keeping our shoes or socks on the entire time we were there; pillows with an odor that had us putting T-shirts over them to sleep on.
Next was the incredibly bad maid service: for 4 straight days we had to leave notes for the maids to either leave us towels or soap or both.
Repeated attempts to contact the general manager and owner have been ignored.
