Ikea Complaint - Very bad delivery service of products
FLORENCE -- On 12th January 2008 I purchased a wardrobe from Ikea in Florence which was too big for the top of the car so we asked for it to be delivered. The person serving us said it would be delivered within 10 days which we thought was fine. However, after 10 days there was no sign of the wardrobe being delivered and on telephoning Ikea call center they said it was out of their hands since they had delivered the wardrobe to their subcontractor delivery company (Gottardo) on time. The merchandise has still not arrived and it is now 25th January so today I called Gottardo the delivery company whose telephone company the Ikea call centre gave to me, and asked them when was the wardrobe going to arrive. Gottardo were very disrespectful and dismisive but eventually we have agreed on the 28th January for delivery.
Today also I decided to read the small print on the document that was given to us by Ikea for the delivery and I am very appalled that Ikea gave us no warning of the conditions of the delivery. When I paid for the delivery from Ikea I was under the impression that Ikea itself did the delivery and I was not warned of any potential extra costs that could ensue but now having read the delivery document carefully it states that the delivery company will decide a date of delivery and that if we are unalbe to accept the date and time of delivery we shall be charged for holding the merchandise by the delivery company.
If I had been warned of these conditions I would have organised delivery myself as these conditions are completely unacceptable. I urge the global directors of ikea to take care of how things are organised in Italy because currently Ikea in Italy is being organised in a very Italian way which means very poor customer service and none on the managers wanting to take responsibility for any mistakes. In fact typically the fault is always the customers.
