Andersen Corporation Complaint - Storm Door Caused Injury
LANCASTER, MASSACHUSETTS -- We bought five Andersen/Emco storm doors from Home Depot and had four of them installed by Home Depot's installers in 2005. Shortly afterward, the screen on the storm door on our front door derailed and a representative from Andersen came out to replace the screen. In August 2007, I returned from a walk with one of our dogs. He was in a heel position when we came in through the front storm door. The door shut on the last 1.5 inches of his tail and cut it off, requiring surgery. My dog was 90 lbs at the time. The diameter of the bone in the tip of his tail was significant. I had to remove the automatic closing mechanism on all of the storm doors in the house.
I posted a complaint on the Andersen website. Various Andersen/Emco representatives contacted me. One came out to the house, took photos and I was contacted in writing and by phone by Gallagher Bassett Services Inc, the insurance company who represents Andersen Corporation. I have a claim number from Gallagher Bassett which is not recognized by their automated phone system.
As of this date, no one will return my calls or e-mails. I have names and contact information.
