MANCHESTER, NEW HAMPSHIRE -- Where do I begin??? Like many others, we purchased a new house and filled it with Bobs furniture because he CLAIMS its just as good as "those other" stores without the "big name prices". Silly us. Theres a reason hes a DISCOUNT store, because their stuff is absolute GARBAGE. Also, don't fall victim to the $500+ GUARDMAN "protection" plan if you do decide to buy his junk. Its a scam just like Bobs commercials and sales pitches. We bought a dining room table, spent 14 hours over four diffent "scheduled" deliveries, one of which was a four-hour long wait for a no-show that was blamed on a "computer glitch". The three tables that were delivered were all damaged to some degree, the last one actually had an insect glazed over in the finish on the top of the table. Finally I just told them to take the table and leave, and to please refund my money. It should come as no big surprise that the two gentleman couldn't take the table because they were only there to "deliver" it and didn't have toom in the truck. You guessed it...another day of four hours of waiting for someone to show up and pick it up.
After all this they still had the audacity to charge me an $85 non-refundable "delivery" charge. After calling and explaining that I had wasted 16 hours of my life waiting for them to deliver defective furniture, based on my modest salary of $25 an hour, minus a fair $85 delivery charge for NON DEFECTIVE products (which I would have been more than happy to pay)I felt they owed me $315. They agreed to refund the entire amount and close my credit account. For the next 7 months I received bills for the $85 delivery charge and had to call every month, only to be told every month not to worry about it and that they would take care of it along with numerous apologies for any inconvenience. Several months later I applied for an auto loan for $4500 through my bank that I had been a customer of for 10 years, only to get denied due to a delinquent account with Bobs! Big surprise!!
Please remember this is all over one dining room table and I haven't even made it into the living room yet...or the bedroom (quick note on the bedroom furniture, drawer fronts and trim are cracking...guardsman "protection plan" blames it on faulty craftsmanship which it does not cover and neither does bobs after a year). SAVE YOURSELF THE TIME AND AGGRAVATION!! Spend a little extra on Jordans. The living room and dining room have been replaced with Jordans furniture and we have had ZERO issues with the product, the delivery or the customer service.
As always, be weary of a company that doesn't offer contact info for customer service or customer reviews on their website!!!! Happy shopping. Guardsman also does not offer customer reviews or contact info on their website. I called the number provided on our denial letter and was left waiting in silence for 10 minutes before I gave up!
