Nissan Of Mckinney Complaint - Melting Head Lights Nissan Frontier - Nissan Frontier Headlights

Nissan Frontier Headlights - Complaint
Review by dontbuynissan on 2008-01-30
MCKINNEY, TEXAS -- I own a 2005 Nissan Frontier with melting headlights. I have called the Nissan customer service number who has directed me to the dealer. The dealer Nissan of Mckinney has stated the cause of melting headlights is normal wear due to the age. When going to the dealer and seeing the service director, he claims I place cardboard in front of the lights to cause them to melt. BS I have been going back and forth and the dealer will not take care of a preveious customer for a defective product.

DO NOT BUY A CAR FROM NISSAN OF MCKINNEY. THEY WILL NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT AND FEEL BLAMING THE CUSTOMER FOR THE CAUSE IS A EASY WAY OUT.

What is this cardboard thing all about? Who would do that!?

I wouldn't buy a Nisson from anybody, but I cant believe this. How can you melt the headlights with cardboard?

Did you put high intensity bulbs in the lenses?

I was wondering the same thing...I would love to hear the explanation on this one...

If the vehicle in question is the only one this has happened too, well sort of unusual. I feel if this were a problem with all these types of headlights that there would be a recall. I've been driving for 46 years and never had a headlight 'melt' and years of my driving were in the deserts of Arizona. Seems there is something more to this story and that is......?

No, these are factory head lights. Nothing has been changed or modified to them. The Service Director insists its something I did such as the cardboard suggestions. Meaning he thinks I put something in front of the truck to create extra heat. I told him obviously I would have removed something if it was blocking my front end, plus I couldn’t see if something was blocking them. Origionally consumer afairs said it was normal wear and tear for a 3 year old vehicle. It is a pain to know your dealer wont take care of you for something that is not the customers fault. However they will gladly take your money and run and insist on a 10 out of 10 on a customer service survey.

What????????????? I've never heard of such a phenomenon. The carboard is interesting....I wonder how that comes into play? HMMMMMMMMMM.................

Normal for 3 year old headlights to melt? Give me a break! Sounds like "consumer affairs" is actually corporate lawyer puppets with instructions to never take responsibility. No matter how ridiculous they sound.

I wonder if those dark headlight covers could cause such a thing?
