Fred Meyer Complaint - Rude employee, unresponsive management
BEAVERTON, OREGON -- I purchased some stuff in December 2007 at Beaverton Fred Meyer on 11425 SW Beaverton Hillsdale Hwy.
I grabbed things I wanted to buy, then went to the cashier line. While waiting in line, the cashier suggested I go check out at the Electronics Dept as there was nobody checking out.
The cashier, a guy named Joshua dropped my item off the counter, picks it off the floor and into my bag like nothing happened. The item was a food product in a microwaveable tray filled to the brim with a peel off wrap, which as you know can cause the seal to leak or crack the container if dropped.
I inspect the item and the integrity of seal appeared questionable and since I'm the one paying for the item, I asked them to replace it.
The cashier discussed the matter with his supervisor (Mark B. I believe) who was there with him but was facing the other way and likely did not see the incident. Joshua tells his supervisor Mark that "customer is saying seal is leaking" leaving out the fact he dropped the item hard on the floor.
This cashier then hissed while talking to the supervisor "this is retarded!". The supervisor's answer when told everything "well I'm sorry, he's a human everyone makes mistakes" as an answer for the poor attitude.
When I asked his full name, I was told "company policy does not allow cashiers to give out their last name".
I left a message with corporate office and was told the store manager would get back to me. They didn't.
My conclusion is that, as the manager didn't follow up, Mr. Joshua's kind of behavior does not deviate from their store's standards for cashier's interaction with customers.
