Stryker Corporation Complaint - Joint replacement gone bad

Review by hunterspop on 2008-02-03
PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA -- I normally would not write a review about a medical device but after reading this companies response to 2 previous FDA warnings I decided to. I had hip replacement surgery a little over a year ago with this device. Within 4 months of having this put in I was in worse pain than I was before surgery. I went to the University of Penna.to see the director of joint replacement. The implant had never healed to the bone properly and needed to be redone. I had it redone with a different implant system. It has been about 6 months and this one seems to have healed pretty well. Ironic that Stryker claims that these charges of poor fixation and staff infection being found are not correct...exactly the 2 things the revision surgeon told me were the cause of it not healing.

I lost my job because of this (thank god for LTD). I have spoke to my previous employer and since it is a sales job and my territory has been filled I will have to return at a fairly reduced salary. I am not normally a lawyer kind of guy but it looks like this time I may have to be. Anyone looking into any type of joint replacement please be aware.
