Alltel Complaint - Cell Phone Customer Service
OMAHA, NEBRASKA -- Dec. 2007: We added a cell phone for my teenage daughter. I was very specific that I wanted the text messaging blocked. The salesman assured us that he had taken care of it. Texting was blocked.
A few weeks later when we got the bill, we found that it wasn't blocked. I called Alltel and was told that I had to set up the blocking myself via the internet. I was told that the salesman was in error. And, instead of crediting me the full amount of the texting charges ($70.00), I was told that since my daughter actually did do the texting, that the best they could do was to give me their $9.99 plan to cover her text messaging. I paid the $9.99.
I told the customer service rep that I didn’t have a computer and was told that I could go to my local library and use their computer, that they could not do the blocking.
Next bill comes, another $70.00 in text messaging. I called again and was told that because I did go into the computer immediately after talking with them and block her messages, that the messages sent between the last billing cycle and the date that I blocked the messages were not covered by the $9.99 plan and that I had to pay full price for those text messages.
We have a total of five phones with Alltel. I certainly will look elsewhere for service in the near future.
