Capital One Complaint - Capital One is awful
I hope this message will serve as a warning to others. I had become a Capital One card hold back in 2002 thinking it was one of the better companies out there. I foolishly based that opinion on advertising rather than reading reviews. Over the years everything was fine, I used the card, paid the bill, no worries. My first bad experience came last October when, due to a larger purchase, my card went over the limit. Not only was I charged an over the top fee, but they dinged my credit report!!! I called customer service to resolve the misunderstanding and what a joke. After being on hold forever they refused to do a thing for me even when I pointed out my history and that I had paid the card off in full. I still don't understand the value placed on trying to hurt the credit of a long time customer who was spending more money with them. The charge should have been declined if I was over the limit. They lost my respect and trust as I can't have my very good credit being damaged by a bunch of crazies like the folks at Capital One I spoke with. I have since cancelled my 2, and my wife's 1 account with them. Nice going Capital One!!!
On the other hand Citi-Bank has been a pleasure to work with when I had a problem. I'll never go back to Capital One.
