Kentucky Fried Chicken Complaint - Rotten Food...... - Food Service
KIRKSVILLE, MISSOURI -- I just found this site or I would have written sooner. I was on Christmas vacation on 12-22-2006 when my wife and I stopped at the KFC in Kirksville, MO. We had been on the road about 8 hours and stopped to eat and chicken is, or should I say "was", one of my favorite meals.
As we sat down and began to eat, about the third bite or so, I detected a rancid odor. It took me a few seconds to realize it was the chicken and closer inspection showed that it looked and smelled rotten. The breading did a good job to hide both the odor and appearance.
I about lost the little food I had already ate and my appetite went from 10 to 0 like right now! I took the rotten chicken back to the counter and asked them to look at it. They refused, apparently due to the rancid odor, but did give me a refund.
We arrived at Ft. Leonard Wood later that evening as we were visiting our kids, who are in the military. We stayed at their house for the week.
I kept the recepit from KFC and still have it. Then the fun started. About midnight that evening, I got sick and was up most of the night doing the unmentionable. I was better by about noon the next day. What a way to start a Christmas vacation.
Upon returning to Wisconsin, I filed a complaint with KFC. After a month or two of calls and letters, they offered me a couple hundred bucks to drop the whole thing. They said that since I did not keep the rotten chicken and have it tested, I could not prove it was rotten. So they basically called my wife and I liars at that point.
They also said that since I did not go to the doctor and do blood tests or whatever, I could not prove it was the chicken that made me sick. Remember now, I am a civilian, 700 miles away from home, on a military base.
I did not get an apology from KFC nor any other offer of satisfaction other than the couple hundred bucks. I am and have been in law enforcement for 29 years. I am used to getting treated like crap at times but not like this. I thought KFC really dropped the ball on this one. I will never eat at a FKC again and do not allow my friends and family to do so. I would suggest the same for anyone reading this. I did not respond to their offer as I felt it was an insult.
If there is an attorney reading this from the Kirksville, MO area that wants to represent me on this matter, and the time limit has not expired, send me a letter at the New Richmond, WI Police Dept. to T. Wulf. You can get the address on-line.
Good luck and good bye to KFC!!!
