Hamilton Beach Compliment - Deluxe Coffeemaker - A better "mouse trap"

Review by 20131 on 2008-02-06
BrewStation® Deluxe 12 Cup CoffeemakerFor years I'd been happy enough with my B&D coffeemaker - a knockoff of Mr. Coffee. I mean, after all, you pour water in the top, it gets hot, goes through the grounds and "makes" coffee. Evidently, Santa wanted me to upgrade so he brought me the Hamilton Beach BrewStation® Deluxe 12 Cup Coffeemaker.

At a price of around 80.00, I told Santa he was NUTS! After all, my reliable and worn coffee maker still worked! The jolly old elf wagged a knowing finger at me, winked and tossed my old machine in the trash. I unpacked this new space aged looking thing - sorta resembling Robby the Robot.

What a difference - I must say. This wonder truly "brews" the coffee - it doesn't just cook it. It's a one-hand operation dispenser that keeps your coffee piping hot for up to 4 hours - all while the coffee stays in an enclosed heated chamber. The water you supply goes through a water filter before brewing - not sure if that is a genuine benefit or not.

Of course it comes with an auto timer - the thing really looks slick and works great! It seems to make even average coffee taste a whole lot better!

An 80.00 coffee maker may seem like an extravagance - and it is, but this one is so worth it. Save the cheaper ones for wedding presents - get this device and start enjoying your morning coffee again!

I have a new coffee maker I bought about 3 years ago,and have only used it twice.
I cant handle coffee,if I drink one cup i have a hard time sleeping, and I hate the jittery feeling i get with coffee.

Im more of a "downer" kinda guy

My dad and step mom have this exact pot and they love it. It dispenses the coffee kind of like a soda fountain, stick the cup under and lightly push it against the button. It's got a timer on it so you can wake up to coffee already made.

Steve....it's not a NEW coffee maker if you bought it 3 years ago...it's a 3 year old coffee maker used only twice. LOL.

Pirate, you should have posted this a week ago. I would have bought one for my Mom's birthday last week...I'm not a coffee drinker, I took a sip of my Dad's coffee when I was a wee baby and never forgot that awful taste...I prefer my caffeine from Coke!

The coffee maker really does make a difference. I have a nice Cusinart 12 cup model at home, but also have a little 4 cup Mr. Coffee at work. The same coffee tastes so much better in the Cusinart one. Will this Hamilton model only dispense into the cup shown in the picture, or is it easy to use other size cups?

Thanks PWP. I love coffee and have an old cheap coffee maker. I'm looking for a new one and will definitely take a look at this one. (VH)

One-eyed, it'll dispense in any cup, the one pictured is an example.

I gotta have morning coffee, I work nights and have to get up to get my kid ready for school - plus it's like rocket fuel for me at the gym.

I guess it does look a bit like Robby the Robot. Therefore, very helpful!

Willie I have a Cuisinart Grind and Brew. Man I love that thing.

I would consider this a wiser investment than a television set.

So help the person that talks to me before I have my morning coffee. Don't talk to me, don't look at me, and most importantly do not smile at me. :) Princi doesn't do mornings well. Especially on nights that she actually sleeps.

Pirate, since I don't live in your high rent district, I had to buy one for only $49.95 (I think). Just kiddin'. At the time I got mine about five years ago, I believe it was the first one of this type made. Fantastic coffee and you don't need an alarm clock--the smell of freshly brewed coffee wakes you up in the morning.

Hamilton Beach is good with customer service, too. See my review at:

I give good marks to HB. Received their Indoor/Outdoor Grill as a gift last year. Both products have given good service.

Principissa, We also have a Cuisinart Grind and Brew and love it. They are expensive, but we got ours on sale at a great price. I've been impressed by their customer service. Part of the post on the grinder lid broke off. When I called Cuisinart, the rep. just asked for my address and we got our new grinder lid in days!
