Discover Card Complaint - Customer Service
COLORADO -- My father (who is elderly) had his Discover card come up for renewal. All other credit cards you can register your card online - but not Discover! He tried to call them and thought he'd gotten through the registration but when he went to use the card they had frozen the account. He had to be humiliated at the store while the clerk called "fraud prevention." The card still didn't work and he used another card. I called Discover and the lady at fraud prevention said everything was "fine" and the card was registered and ready to use. Then she told me to send a copy of the Power of Attorney with my name on it to them so that they could contact me in the future. I did this.
Then I get a call from their POA dept threatening to close the account because they couldn't "verify" the POA (which I was ASkED to send). To verify the POA, my father has to call them and go through some garbage verification which will confuse him and probably end up making things worse.
I think he (and all the rest of us) should cut up our Discover cards!!!!
