I bought a GE Washer, top load, (model GHDVH626H) last month. It is leaking badly - I noticed a tear in the plastic door liner. I phoned for warranty service - I bought the machine from Home Depot and must use GE for warranty work. The wait for a service technician is 2 weeks - and guess what, even though I told them there is a rip in the plastic door liner their policy does not allow them to pre-order parts. So the service tech will need 2 calls to my house. I will never buy a machine again where the warranty work must be done by GE - way too slow.
As far as performance goes, I like the top load but have had trouble with the spin cycle. With towels if there are other non-cottons in the same load the towels will not spin dry so I have had to hang them to drip dry overnight.
