QVC, Inc. Complaint - Return Shipping and Handling Policies. - Garment

Garment - Complaint
Review by Shirwill on 2008-02-12
PENNSYLVANIA -- Recently purchased a garment which arrived with the correct size on the label, however, the garment fell far short of the measurement it was supposed to be. I took it to several women who wear smaller sizes than I do, and it was even too small for them. I would have been happy to keep the garment, as it was well made, but as it was several inches smaller than the label said it was, had no choice but to return it. Under the circumstances, I asked QVC to refund the S&H and also the return postage which I had to pay. They never answered or disputed what I said, just gave me a refund for the basic cost of the garment, and I am supposed to eat the S&H both ways. I would not object if I returned the item because I did not like it, etc. I think they should charge all the S&H to the company that manufactred the garment, rather than the poor consumer, in this case me. Perhaps these companies would then have some decent quality control. This happens frequently with QVC. Some of the merchandise I get from them does not meet my standards, is poorly sized, or else is of such cheap construction that I cannot keep it.

It is not the amount, but the principal of it and after awhile it all adds up to a considerable amount of money. Needless to say, I will not be buying anything from QVC anymore. This was the last straw for me.

Did you actually talk to someone or was the request by email? It was a manufacturing error if the sizing wasn't correct. They usually provide measurements and you should be able to rely on those being accurate. If it was done via email, I would try to talk to an actual person.

i ship stuff all the time to qvc, and yes, YOU are required to pay for shipping BOTH ways. just part of the way mail order shopping goes.

Every time I've returned an item to QVC - - for any reason - - they have refunded the original shipping charge but I was responsible for paying the return postage.

madconsumer: YOU are WRONG! I have been doing catalogue and internet shopping for a long time, and other companies who value their good costumers and have better customer service practices, frequently have either sent me a prepaid return postage sticker or else refunded all the shipping and handling. There is little or no quality control anymore with manufactures, and as long as they are able to continue to pass on all the shipping costs to the buyer, there never will be. This item was clearly a matter of poor quality control. Incidentally, QVC did not even refund the tax on the item in this case, which they are supposed to.

The only time I was not required to pay return postage is when something was sent that was either defective or totally wrong. If I returned if I didn't like it I had to pay postage.

Gothic Smurf: Exactly the problem with the item. If size item mislabeled and several sizes smaller than the size indicated, what are you supposed to do with the item? Keep it and throw it away, send it back and ask for an item of the correct size and hope that it is right this time, and then pay additional S&H? By this time the item has cost $15.00+ more. A mis-sized garment is the same as a defective item, period!

I have never paid return shipping on a QVC item that is defective or is not as decribed. If I do not like the item when it arrives that is a different matter. I phone their customer service and talk to them and only once or twice have I needed to speak to a supervisor.

QVC is a 50/50 shot you receive satisfactory service and information. I had a nightmare returning and item, using their QLabel, which is untraceable through USPS, although you HAVE to drop it off at USPS. The label does not have tracking numbers that belong to USPS (as indicated to me by their management at the Post Office). Plus USPS doesn't "scan" it in until the delivery service (yes, you read it correctly, the delivery service which is UPS or DHL), PICKS IT UP FROM THE POST OFFICE TO DELIVER TO QVC! How do you like that. And yet still you can track your item. Anyone could escond with it. ANYONE. My laptop sat at the post office in a bin for TWO WEEKS and was not scanned IN...ONLY SCANNED OUT! Nice. And the best part? QVC Customer Reps did not even know this! I talked with four of them. The best part, the "supervisor" at QVC Customer Service actually had the gall to call me, in so many words, a liar when I told him it sat at the post office of TWO WEEKS; and also when I told him USPS would NOT give me a slip of paper when I dropped it off to indicate they recieved it because USPS told me it's not THEIR LABEL; it's QVC's! I know more about QVC shipping procedure than THEY do!
And the best part? Now that QVC received the item 25 days later, they are in the process of notifying my Mastercard to refund my three payments...AND DO NOT NOTIFY QVC UNTIL TWO MONTHS HAVE PASSED IF I HAVE NOT RECEIVED MY REFUND! TWO MONTHS!!
I am D-O-N-E with these clowns.
I can get a court date quicker.
