Buy.Com Complaint - Buy.Com ridiculous 14 day return policy
I purchased a SlingBox SOLO on January 25 and received it about 4 days later. I tried for a few days to hook it up, to no avail. I called SlingBox only to be told that the item was not wireless and I had to purchase a SlingLink, which I did, through Buy.Com, on January 30. Again I received it a few days later. I tried in vain to hook it up and decided that I needed to return the whole system. When I contacted Buy.Com to receive a required return authorization number (by email of course, since you can't reach them by phone), their response email said that the SOLO could not be returned because the "14 day from order" policy had expired - by 3 days according to my calculations! I was livid.
I wrote registered letters to the Chairman of the Board and President of the company (have yet to receive a reply) and had my AMEX card investigate the charge. I will NEVER do business with Buy.Com again and will do everything I can to ensure that others are spared this experience.
