Carl Gregory Ford Informative - Find another Auto Service Provider!

AUBURN, ALABAMA -- We have taken our F250 to Carl Gregory in Auburn for service exclusively since relocating to this area. Recently, we had a problem with an oil / potential diesel leak. Carl Gregory worked on the truck and charged $1000. After this work, the problem still continued. We returned the truck the next day for them to correct the problem. They stated that this is normal for residual fluid to leak and should go away. When it did not, we took the truck back. Upon picking up the truck, we were told by the technician that the first work done on the truck was not the correct work that should have been done, thus it is now fixed and there is no charge for this 2nd repair.

A few weeks later, the service manager calls us requesting $800 payment for the 2nd work done on the truck. He explained that we should have never been allowed to take the truck off the lot without payment. He will not consent that they have any fault in the matter with not identifying the correct problem to begin with. We tried to reach the general manager. He will not return our call, but had the service manager call us back who threatened to have us arrested if we didn't pay by tomorrow!!

Keep in mind:
1) We paid them $1000 for a repair that wasn't needed.
2) They are now asking for $800 more.
3) They offer no concessions at all.
4) The general manager doesn't even have the courtesy to speak with us about the issue.

Apparently, customer service is not important to them. Perhaps they have more customers than they can handle and don't care how they treat us.

What does the paperwork from your second visit say? If it says "no charge" then I'm curious what they plan to tell the police? Auburn's a small town, if the bad press from this costs them even one car or truck sale, they have lost more that the $800 in question.

I would not worry about the police, the first thing the police are going to tell the service manager is that this is a civil case and probably not even write up a report. Now the dealership could file suit against you for the $800.00. If everything you stated is true, they don't have a snowballs chance in hell to collect. Good Luck

I'm with Dealer on this one. The police will be of no help in this case.
