Frigidaire Complaint - Frigidaire - NOT YOUR PARENTS FRIGIDAIRE COMPANY!!!!
CHANTILLY, VIRGINIA -- My 9 month old Frigidaire Stainless Steel side by side broke down 1 week ago while still under full warranty. I live in Northern Virginia with a population of over 8 million people. Frigidaire has only 2 authorized warranty service providers for this area. One had no appointments available for a week. The other came out two days later, opened the freezer and said the compressor was bad and the entire refrigerator should be replaced and that he could not fix the compressor. I spoke with Frigidaire and they wanted me to contact another warranty provider. They gave me three numbers in Maryland, all refused to come to VA. They then told me to call a non-authorized provider and that they would reimburse me. The non warranty provider came out, determined that the compressor was fine but that the PCTR relay-overload-capacitor went bad for reasons unknown. They recommended that the unit be replaced and stated that they could not guarantee the work would last even a day/week/month. They told this to Frigidaire even though this meant that they would not be making the repair profit from Frigidaire. Despite this, Frigidaire's customer service decided against the service provider recommendation and they have elected to have the service provider go ahead and service it against the providers better judgement. SHAME ON THEM... They did tell me that the they could replace the compressor if I wanted them to... even though the compressor was deemed to be fine....LOL. Apparently Frigidaire no longer cares about their customers let alone their reputation. Due to all these issues, their lack of being able to honor their warranty contract in a reasonable time period as well as their ignoring the recommendation of an independent service provider that the unit be replaced I will no longer consider purchasing any product within the Electrolux/Frigidaire family (btw, they apparently don't care about this or their "good" name recognition either. I will most certainly steer people away from this company). Too bad as once they were both considered top of the line in the US.
