Ethos Water / Starbucks Informative - Charity Scam
YUBA CITY, CALIFORNIA -- I was just in my local Starbucks and noticed that they are selling a bottled water product called "Ethos". After reading the bottle I found their cause noble and just. To provided clean drinking water to the many people who don't have access to clean water. Great idea. Then I read a little further, 0.05 cents from the sale of a bottle goes to this clean water fund. As I noticed the price of this bottle @ $1.79, I then went into the target where the Starbucks was located and found same size bottles of water ranging between 0.99 & 1.29. A 50 to 80 cent difference. I got to thinking, it can't cost Ethos that much more to make their water, so where is the extra 45 to 75 cents going. The companies making the water for 1.00 to 1.30 are still making a profit right. Does Ethos have that much extra overhead?
I think Ethos is using the marketing of a charity to sell over priced water and pocket a large profit in the course of tugging on peoples heart strings. In my opinion, unless Ethos shows that they are sending 25% plus of their profits to this charity, this is nothing more then a scam by them. Prove me wrong Ethos!
