Days Inn Complaint - Cancellation Policy No Refund
I recently made the mistake of making a reservation for August at a Days Inn in South Dakota. I found that it would be impossible for me to go and tried to cancel this reservation. I sent and email to Days Inn customer care and to TripRewards asking for their input and help. I was told to call customer care and when I did I was told that I could cancel up to 6pm on the 3rd of August, but I would have to call the hotel directly. I called the hotel and was told in no uncertain terms that while I could cancel I would not receive a refund. This is the first time I have ever come across this type of business practice. It is very much like charging twice for the same room. I figured since I was calling and trying to cancel months in advance that it would not be a problem. I have had contact with the customer care representative several times since to no avail. It is no surprise to me that 80 percent of Days Inn customer are unhappy with the company.
I read and article by company president Ken Greene that said they had "excellent customer service" he must be kidding or living in a bubble. It looks as though I will be out the money for my room and it has been a learning experience albeit an expensive one.
