J.C. Penney Company, Inc. Complaint - Worst Customer Service Ever
MASSACHUSETTS -- I've been a JCP customer for years. My credit card with them is over 30 years old: one of the old red ones. As a rule I charge an item or two and when the bill arrives I pay it off. That's been the case for years now. So, recently I actually purchased something that cost around $350. The bill came in, and as I went to pay it I noticed a note that said my credit limit was now $300. ?? I figured it was a mistake so I called. Customer service rep #1 was mechanical and while not dreadfully rude, certainly not pleasant or helpful. I asked for a supervisor. Supervisor was rude as can be...actually raising her voice at me on the phone. She "explained" that LAST MAY (9 months ago) my payment in full of $53 was 2 days late. I remember the occasion, because my bank had a hiccup in the online bill paying service and payments went out late. JCP called me on the 15th to say I was past due (sheesh) and I explained, and the caller said oh, ok, no problem. Now I find out that a $53 charge arriving 2 days after the due date has made me a bad credit risk!
So..... after 30 + years...I said "cancel the card now, " paid the balance and have taken every opportunity to tell others about the occasion.
No more JCP for me!
